What an extraordinary place to stay! If you're in need of rest, walks, silence, and a great restaurant, look no further. Hotel & Spa Etxegana is a charming Basque building with Indonesian touches in the interior that surprisingly work. The location is amazing, nestled in the middle of the mountains and perfect for access to local hiking trails and Mount Gorbeia. The staff is lovely and provided excellent service, organizing some of the best massages we've ever had. The welcome was warm, and they even made our Labrador feel welcome. The food was superb, with a great wine list to match. And the highlight for us was the peacefulness of the surroundings. It was the ideal place to unwind and recharge.

The warm and friendly welcome and service was mind-blowing! Our labrador was also made to feel super welcome and had ample opportunity for free running in the adjacent forest. The food was jaw-droppingly excellent, as was the wine list. The location is great for an overnight stop or a few days to fully benefit from the beautiful surroundings. The rooms were comfortable with a flat-screen TV, and the staff provided excellent service. The spa and wellness centre offered relaxing treatments like back, head, and full body massages. The hotel also had a swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, and Turkish bath. Wi-fi was included, and there was free parking available. our stay was absolutely incredible!

I had an extraordinary stay at this hotel! The building's traditional Basque style mixed with Indonesian elements of decor was very interesting and unique. The cleanliness of the room and large bathroom was impeccable. The staff were professional, attentive, and made me feel welcomed. The hotel facilities were excellent, including the spa where I had a relaxing massage. The location in the attached forest offered great walks and tranquility. The views from the hotel were absolutely spectacular. The breakfast provided a typical continental style buffet and was delicious.

Hard to think of anything negative.

The hotel's decoration and overall ambiance were absolutely lovely. The rustic charm and cozy atmosphere made me feel right at home. The general areas, such as the lobby and dining room, were beautifully decorated and had a warm, inviting feel. As a senior woman, I found the hotel to be easily accessible, with clear signage and well-maintained facilities.

If I had to suggest one improvement for a better vacation experience for senior people, it would be to have rooms at the back of the hotel. Unfortunately, I encountered some noise from neighboring dogs early in the morning, which disturbed my sleep.

Some dishes in the restaurant were inconsistent in quality, with excessive oil used on the vegetables and some desserts lacking sophistication in textures and flavors.

The highlight of my stay was definitely the spa. It was like a paradise of relaxation with its swimming pool, jacuzzi, Turkish bath, sauna, and more. I felt completely rejuvenated after indulging in their personalized beauty treatments. It was a perfect way to unwind and escape the daily stressors of life.
